Wonder Nights in 2023

How does this year compare to previous years?
This year, our core focus once again is to provide a magical experience for families with Children this holiday season. It remains our intention to bring back the illuminated garden and light shows in the future when the time is right. This year, we will only be operating during the daytime between 10.30am – 5.00pm.

Why is the normal Wonder Nights not returning again this year?
We haven’t been able to offer the full event since 2019 initially due to Covid19 restrictions and operational concerns unfortunately. Even now we battle well documented cost increases, supply challenges and an unknown economic outlook. This is genuinely really disappointing for us too but we know you will appreciate all that is affecting everyone right now. We will make it all happen again eventually, but again this year are concentrating on providing an opportunity to meet Father Christmas in a special place.

Are you illuminating the whole garden this year?
No – this year we will not be illuminating the garden, but the whole Earl’s Garden will be open for you to explore in the daytime between 10.30am – 5.00pm.

Will there be any light shows this year?
No – unfortunately not. We very much hope to bring back the light shows in the future and as soon as feasible.

Will the Mansion be open this year?
Yes – this will be the venue for meeting Father Christmas.

What time do you open/close?
Entry is timed between 10.00am – 4.45pm. Please see our dedicated pages for the latest opening times.

How long will it take to explore?
Please allow up to 30 minutes to meet Father Christmas and up to 45 minutes for the Enchanted Garden Trail. Allow longer to enjoy food and drink in the courtyard or at one of the fantastic on-site cafes.

How long is the Enchanted Garden Trail?
The walking route this year is the longest it’s ever been and on average is taking younger families approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Can I explore the Enchanted Garden Trail before meeting Father Christmas?
Yes – you can explore the garden before your timed ticket entry to the house to meet Father Christmas. We open the garden at 10.30am.

What refreshments will be available?
You can purchase drinks and snacks in the house courtyard which is located at the start of the Enchanted Garden Trail. If you are here before 3.00pm then you can also eat at The Farriers or The Orangery.

Accessibility & Additional Needs

Is Wonder Nights Wheelchair accessible?
We don’t recommend bringing a wheelchair to this event because the experience is presented in the natural grade one listed landscape of Mount Edgcumbe’s historic formal Earl’s Garden. We have made every effort to make the park accessible to all, but by its very nature there are gradients and bumpy terrain in some select areas. The entire route is predominantly flat though with no steps. Please give us a call on 0371 789 1024 to discuss your requirement ahead of your visit.

We recommend that you don’t bring Scooters & Buggies, but they can be used throughout the park. They are not permitted inside the house but there is a place for you to leave them unsupervised outside.

Do you have Disabled parking?
Yes – we have six free dedicated spaces next to the Stables Courtyard available on a first come first served basis. We highly recommend you arrive early. If you are arriving after dark, then we recommend parking in the main car park as this is directly positioned at the exit to the attraction and is illuminated. For more information click HERE.

You will find permanent toilets in the Dry Walk car park, at the entrance to Wonder Nights in the Mansion, above The Farriers on the first floor and in the Barrow Centre next to Cornish Galleries.
